Mamun named in Niko scam case

Dhaka, Feb 6 (bdprem.com) – Controversial businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun was implicated in the Niko scam case Wednesday.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Md Golam Rabbani granted an appeal from the Anticorruption Commission to show Mamun arrested in the case filed with Tejgaon Police Station and quiz him at the jail gate in the case.





SM Sahidur Rahman, assistant director of the ACC and investigation officer, filed the appeal.

In the appeal, Rahman said Mamun was linked to the agreement with the Canadian oil giant and shady transactions according to a confessional statement of Selim Bhuiyan, an accused in the case.

Mamun is behind bars in another case.

Former prime minister Khaleda Zia is one of the accused in the case filed for abusing power to push an agreement between Niko and Bapex on exploring gas.
