| Dhaka, Feb 6 (bdprem.com)—Lawyers Wednesday sought to produce former prime minister Khaleda Zia before the trial court in the GATCO corruption case. The lawyers for the detained BNP chairperson filed an appeal with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court for Dhaka, a day before the court follows up on the case in the presence of the investigating officer Thursday. Metropolitan magistrate Md Golam Rabbani agreed to hear the appeal Thursday for brining Khaleda to court. If the court approves the appeal, Khaleda will be brought to court on the next date of the case, not Thursday. In the appeal, lawyer Sanaullah Mia said: "Khaleda Zia has been in prison since Sept 3 last year. Her two sons—both ill—are in hospital. One of her daughters-in-law was also implicated in the case." "Khaleda Zia is under mental stress." "Khaleda Zia has not been produced before the court in the last four months." "The court will hear the reason for filing such an appeal Thursday," IO Abdus Salam told bdprem.com. |
