| Dhaka, Jan 19 (bdprem.com) – Khaleda Zia's sons Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Coco were freed on parole to attend the funeral of their grandmother Toyeba Majumdar Saturday, a prisons official said. Former prime minister Khaleda, detained in special jail, will also be freed on parole for several hours to attend the funeral of Toyeba, the home ministry said. According to an official order, Khaleda was scheduled to be paroled from 11am to 5pm. But Khaleda's lawyer, advocate Mahbubuddin Khokon, complained that the government was delaying her release. A helicopter will carry the body of Toyeba to Dhaka from Dinajpur. DMP commissioner Naim Ahmed told bdnews24.com that the police put in place an adequate security arrangement for Khaleda and her two sons. Toyeba's son Shamim Eskander—accompanied by his wife—arrived in Dinajpur Saturday morning to take the body to Dhaka. Khaleda's lawyer Barrister Ahmed Azam Khan had earlier told bdprem.com that the body of Toyeba would be flown to Dhaka Cantonment. The body will then be taken to Azad Mosque in Gulshan for a namaz-e-janaza after Asr prayers. The body will be flown back to Dinajpur town for burial. Toyeba died of heart attack at a Dinajpur hospital Friday, aged 87. |
