Selim Al-Din remains in critical condition

Dhaka, Jan 13 (bdprem.com) – The condition of playwright Selim Al-Din remains critical, his physician said Sunday.

He is on a life-support system at the coronary care unit of LabAid Cardiac Hospital.

The hospital's interventional cardiologist Dr APM Sohrabuzzaman told bdprem.com Sunday that his condition was very critical, and there was no sign of improvement.

Selim was rushed to BIRDEM Friday evening after suffering respiratory problems. He was transferred to LabAid after doctors diagnosed cardiac problems.

Sohrabuzzaman said the noted playwright was suffering a number of conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.

A temporary pacemaker has been installed in his chest to keep heart activities normal.

A team of seven physicians was formed to treat the playwright.

Hearing the news of Selim's illness his colleagues and students of the department of Drama and Dramatics at Jahangirnagar University visited the hospital.
