| Dhaka, Jan 12 (bdprem.com) – Playwright Selim Al-Din was taken to LabAid Cardiac Hospital in the city in a "very critical condition", his physician said Saturday. Selim has been put on the life-support system, LabAid interventional cardiologist Dr APM Shohrabuzzaman told bdnews24.com by phone. Selim was rushed to BIRDEM Friday evening after he felt breathing problems. Hours later, he was transferred to LabAid after doctors confirmed the problem as cardiac ailments. Selim is suffering from 'acute left ventricular failure'—a life-threatening emergency in medical jargon. Doctors rushed an emergency meeting to discuss his condition, Khadiza Begum, spokesperson for LabAid, said. A team of seven physicians has been formed to treat the playwright. Hearing the news of Selim's illness, his colleagues and students of the Department of Drama and Dramatics at Jahangirnagar University, arrived at the hospital. |
