Garment workers clash with police in Mirpur

Dhaka, Jan 14 (bdprem.com)—Workers ransacked garment factories in Kachukhet area of Mirpur Monday, protesting authorities not paying them full salary, allowances and dues and sacking workers without notice.

The workers clashed with the police and other law enforcers, bdprem.com Senior Correspondent Jony reports from the scene.

Several hundred workers of about 20 RMG factories including MBM Garments and Opex Garments took to the streets at about 2pm and demonstrated.

Workers damaged different RMG factories and vandalised some passing cars, witnesses said.

The road from Mirpur No. 10 roundabout to Kachukhet was closed for some time, causing severe traffic jam.

Police and other law-enforcement agencies were deployed in Mirpur.
