| Dhaka, Jan 13 (bdprem.com) – Education adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman Sunday said the detained Dhaka University teachers would be freed immediately after the verdict set for Tuesday. Not only the teachers, the issue of the students is being considered as well, he told reporters. Speaking to bdnews24.com by phone, "They (teachers) will be released soon after the verdict." After visiting playwright Selim Al-Din at LabAid Cardiac Hospital, the adviser said the verdict would be declared in the cases in the quickest possible time. "They (teachers) will be freed and reinstated in their jobs whatever the verdict may be," Zillur said. Education secretary Mamtazul Islam and Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor SMA Faiz accompanied him. The legal process will be completed Monday and the verdict will be delivered Tuesday, he said adding: "And they will be freed soon after." He said the council of advisers took some specific decisions. "Ending this problem was one of them." He said that 15 people were meant to testify in the case Monday. But a decision was taken to end the process, Zillur added. He hoped the situation would return to normal after the teachers and students were freed. "The government expects a peaceful atmosphere in the country," he said. |
